The new flagship sedan BYD Seal 08 has proven to be one of the company's most successful launches recently. According to BYD researcher Andy Dean, the car gathered around 65 thousand confirmed orders in just 30 hours after sales began.

This number includes approximately 40 thousand pre-orders placed before the official premiere on June 12, as well as over 25 thousand new orders received after the prices were announced. The source notes that these calculations are based on dealer network data and may have an error margin of 10–15%.

The base cost of the model in China is 196,900 yuan (about 29 thousand dollars), making it one of the most affordable models in the segment of large technological sedans. The car is built on a modern 800-volt electrical architecture and is equipped with the proprietary DiSus-A adaptive air suspension. Body dimensions are 5150 mm in length, 1999 mm in width, and 1505 mm in height with a wheelbase of 3030 mm.

According to dealers, over 65% of buyers choose fully electric versions. The most popular is the top-end all-wheel-drive modification with two electric motors totaling 694 hp. It accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, and the declared range according to the CLTC cycle reaches 905 km.

High demand has already led to delivery delays. Currently, BYD factories produce about 8 thousand Seal 08 units per month, while the waiting time for the most popular configurations at dealerships reaches two to three months.

To reduce the backlog, the company has switched production lines to a two-shift operation and is simultaneously increasing the output of second-generation Blade Batteries, which are used in the new model.
