American company Helderburg has put up for sale an unusual restomod of the classic Land Rover Defender called Lange. The SUV is priced at $348,720 (about 27 million rubles) — more than twice the cost of a new Defender OCTA.
Unlike most similar projects, the specialists did not install a modern gasoline V8. Instead, they retained the original 2.5-liter 300Tdi turbodiesel, increasing its power by approximately 42%. This approach allowed them to preserve the character of the classic Defender while improving its dynamics.
The car received a seriously modernized chassis. The modifications include an enhanced braking system, modern power steering, a differential lock, new suspension with upgraded shock absorbers, stabilizers, and other elements designed to improve stability on asphalt without compromising off-road capabilities.
The body is painted in Oak Green Metallic and complemented by an external roll cage mounted directly on the frame. Also installed are a reinforced steel bumper with towing eyes, new lighting, and an updated radiator grille.
The interior has been no less extensively redesigned. The cabin features a modern multimedia system, a new three-spoke steering wheel with a wooden rim, and black and brown quilted leather trim. Thanks to the third row of seats, the SUV can carry up to eight people.
According to Helderburg, the car was originally built to order for a ranch owner in Texas. After several years of operation, the customer switched to an extended Defender 130, and this unit is now for sale as a ready-made collectible project.
