The characteristics of the new Chery iCaur V25 crossover have appeared in the database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). Unlike the fully electric iCaur V23, the new model uses an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) powertrain, where the gasoline engine does not drive the wheels but operates solely as a generator.
The car features an angular body with short overhangs, a side tailgate, an external storage box, and a wheelbase of 2820 mm with an overall length of 4636 mm. Buyers will also be offered wheels up to 21 inches in diameter.
The powertrain is based on a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with 154 hp, which generates electricity for a 33.68 kWh LFP traction battery produced by Gotion High-Tech. On a single charge, the car can travel up to 150 km according to the WLTC cycle purely on electric power. This scheme combines the advantages of an electric vehicle for daily use with the ability to cover long distances without lengthy charging stops.
Another feature of the model will be a modern complex of electronic assistants. High-end configurations include a roof-mounted lidar and a computing platform with a performance of up to 560 TOPS, providing driver assistance systems, automatic parking, and highway navigation.
In addition, the iCaur V25 can tow a trailer weighing up to 1800 kg, making it one of the most versatile vehicles in its segment.
