BMW has introduced a new plugin for ChatGPT that allows users to configure car specifications through a text-based dialogue. Instead of searching for desired options in a traditional configurator, users can simply describe their desired car in plain language.

For example, one can ask the system to find a red BMW 3 Series with 19-inch wheels or simply describe preferences – car size, powertrain type, ground clearance, or other characteristics. Based on this data, the artificial intelligence will suggest a suitable model and generate a configuration that matches the factory catalog.

BMW notes that the solution combines the capabilities of generative artificial intelligence with the company's proprietary database of models and available configurations. This ensures that the system only suggests realistic combinations of equipment and options.

In addition to car selection, the service can compare the operating costs of different models, take into account dynamic requirements, the presence of all-wheel drive, and other parameters that may influence a buyer's choice.

However, not everyone can use the new feature yet. According to the manufacturer, the plugin is available on both computers and mobile devices via ChatGPT. At the same time, a number of users have already reported that searching for the plugin yields no results. BMW has not yet clarified whether the service operates in all countries or if its launch is limited to specific markets, such as Germany.
