Toyota has unveiled the Corolla 60th Anniversary Special Edition, dedicated to the model's 60th anniversary. The company released the first Corolla in Japan in November 1966, and total sales of the family have already exceeded 57 million vehicles.
The anniversary version is based on the Corolla SE Hybrid. Under the hood remains a 1.8-liter hybrid powertrain with two electric motors and an electronic continuously variable transmission. The total output is 138 hp, and all-wheel drive is standard.
The main changes are in equipment and design. The Corolla received 18-inch wheels, special 60th Anniversary badging, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 10.5-inch multimedia screen. Two body colors are available, including the exclusive Supersonic Red.
The Corolla's anniversary turned out to be almost deliberately calm. There is no powerful engine or radical technical upgrade. And this is entirely consistent with the model's history: its main record is built not on sports characteristics, but on mass appeal, simplicity, and the ability to adapt to the requirements of different markets for decades.
Sales will begin in early 2027, and the company will announce the price of the anniversary version later.
