Hyundai Ioniq V surprised with its price: a large electric sedan from China costs from 1.5 million rubles

The Chinese version is comparable in size to the Toyota Camry, but costs less than the most affordable new Hyundai in the US

Hyundai has started pre-sales of the Ioniq V in China. The base version costs 119,900 yuan (approximately 1.5 million rubles). The Smart Driving version is estimated at 129,900 yuan, and the Long Range at 139,900 yuan (1.6 and 1.7 million rubles, respectively). The official start of sales is scheduled for September.

The price is especially impressive given its size. The car's length is 4.9 m, and its wheelbase is 2.9 m. In terms of dimensions, the Ioniq V is comparable to the Hyundai Sonata and Toyota Camry, although visually it looks more like a sleek liftback with a very low body.

The interior features a huge 27-inch 4K display powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 processor. The multimedia system is integrated with Chinese AI services Baidu and ByteDance, and driver assistance functions are provided by Momenta.

The powertrain consists of a single electric motor with 188 or 225 hp. LFP batteries with capacities of 53.5 and 66.8 kWh are supplied by CATL. The claimed range reaches 650 km according to the CLTC cycle, although this figure cannot be directly compared with European WLTP or American EPA.

For now, the Ioniq V remains a Chinese model of Beijing Hyundai, and Hyundai has not announced deliveries to Europe or the US. But the car itself shows how much the requirements for price and equipment differ in the largest electric vehicle market.
