From August 24 to 30, 28.3 thousand new passenger cars were sold in Russia. This is 5.5% more than the previous week's result, when 26.8 thousand cars were sold. At the same time, compared to the same period last year, sales decreased by 5%.

In the commercial vehicle segment, the dynamics were even more contrasting. Sales of light commercial vehicles weighing up to 3.5 tons increased by almost 10% over the week — to 1.3 thousand units. But year-on-year, the market fell by almost 26%.

The weekly growth in the segment of trucks weighing over 3.5 tons was even more noticeable. From August 24 to 30, 888 vehicles were sold, which is 19.4% more than a week earlier. At the same time, compared to the last week of August 2025, sales were 22.4% lower: then 1144 trucks were sold.

August ends with a slight market revival, but for now, this is more stabilization than the beginning of new growth. Comparing current results with last year's is becoming more difficult: it was from the end of summer 2025 that the Russian car market began to accelerate noticeably, reaching maximum volumes in October.

This year the situation is different. Last year's high base automatically makes current statistics less impressive, and there are no factors for a repeat of last year's autumn surge yet. At the same time, another point is important: the market is not yet showing a new serious decline. Weekly sales are growing, albeit at a slow pace, and demand remains relatively stable.
