Three Chinese models — Aion UT, Geely E2, and Leapmotor B05 — immediately received the maximum five stars following new Euro NCAP tests. The results were published on September 2nd and take into account the tightened 2026 assessment protocol.

Geely E2 showed the highest post-crash protection result at 95%, while adult and child protection received 86%. Leapmotor B05 had a crash protection score of 92%, and Aion UT scored 91%. The B05 performed particularly well in side-impact crash tests, including the pole impact.

However, five stars do not mean a lack of shortcomings. The Aion UT's speed limit recognition system correctly identified the sign in only 68% of tested cases. Experts noted that the B05 lacked an adaptive passenger restraint system that accounts for body type.

The result is important for Chinese manufacturers: Euro NCAP notes a sharp increase in the number of such vehicles undergoing European tests. Now, safety is assessed not only by the consequences of a collision but also by the car's ability to prevent an accident.
