The Italians are breaking the mold again. It seemed that last year's Dragster 700 Twin was the pinnacle of madness, but Italjet decided: "We can do better." This is how the 2026 Dragster 459 Twin appeared - the same crazy concept, only more precise, more technological and bolder. Where other scooters end, Italjet is just beginning.
SmartShift: an automatic that you want to click
The main feature of the new Dragster is hidden in the SmartShift transmission. This is not the usual scooter variator: there are six real gears here, which can be shifted either automatically or with paddles under your fingers, like in sports cars. And all this without any foot pedal.
The clutch is optional: either the electronics control the actuator themselves, or the rider uses a classic lever, like on a motorcycle. As a result, the Dragster blurs the line: it looks like a scooter, but feels like a full-fledged bike with character.
ISAS: suspension that adapts to aggression
The proprietary ISAS (Italjet Stiffness Adjustment System) is responsible for the stiffness of the rear suspension. You can adjust not only the preload of the Marzocchi shock absorber spring.
The main trick is a special lever mechanism: turning the transverse rod changes the gear ratio between the swingarm and the shock absorber. The shorter the lever travel, the faster the suspension resistance increases.
The same ideology is used in Kalex racing prototypes, and this is no coincidence - Italjet cooperates with the Gresini Racing team.
A motor that doesn't let you get bored
Inside is a two-cylinder 449 cc DOHC engine with two impressive Akrapovič exhausts.
Power - 47 hp at 9500 rpm
Torque - 30 Nm at 8000 rpm
Average consumption - about 4.1 l/100 km
Twist it and enjoy. The Dragster requires gas and does not tolerate slowness.
Chassis and brakes: sports at the core
The design still relies on a steel tubular frame, which provides rigidity. The front suspension is an inverted Marzocchi, the rear is an adjustable shock absorber with ISAS and a remote reservoir.
The wheels are 15 inches, shod in Pirelli Diablo Rosso Scooter: grippy, fast, confident in corners.
Braking is provided by Brembo: - two front discs at 270 mm - one rear at 230 mm. The ABS system is already in the base.
Price and start of sales
In Italy, the novelty is estimated at €9,900. Deliveries are promised to begin as early as March, but availability by country depends on distributors. The most impatient fans, it seems, are already looking for tickets to Bologna.
