An official Lada dealer in Togliatti has begun test drives of the Lada Vesta with a new 6-speed manual gearbox developed by the Chinese company WLY and adapted specifically for the Russian model. Before being launched into production, the transmission underwent comprehensive refinement, including changes to the design of the primary shaft, crankcase, as well as gear selection and shifting mechanisms. A cable drive has been introduced into the system, which improves the accuracy of gear changes.
One of the key features of the new gearbox is the three-cone synchronizers with a carbon coating, which significantly increases the wear resistance of the components. Additionally, adaptation was carried out for the use of Rosneft transmission oil, which emphasizes the desire of engineers to make the unit as reliable as possible in Russian operating conditions. The set of improvements is aimed at increasing the resource and overall reliability of the unit.
The gearbox is designed for a maximum torque of up to 220 N•m — this is higher than the flagship engine of AvtoVAZ 1.8 EVO is capable of developing.
