Rumors have surfaced online that the Lada Iskra will be equipped with a 1.8L, 122 hp engine. However, AvtoVAZ has denied this information.
Chief Project Engineer Vitaly Loginov noted that the company never intended to use the VAZ-21179 power unit on this model.
At the start of sales, two power units were announced for the Lada Iskra. The Iskra is equipped with an eight-valve 90 hp engine and a 16-valve 106 hp engine.
The first is exclusively combined with a five-speed manual gearbox, while the second offers two transmission options: a continuously variable transmission or a six-speed manual gearbox.
