The updated eighth-generation Volkswagen Golf R (facelift) is coming to Russia, but the price starts at 10.09 million rubles, which is significantly higher than the European 5 million rubles. The hatchback is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 333 hp and a 7-speed DSG robotic gearbox. The 4Motion all-wheel-drive system with electronic differential lock provides acceleration to 100 km/h in less than 5 seconds. With the optional R-Performance package, the top speed reaches 270 km/h.
The model's design has become more aggressive: IQ.LIGHT matrix headlights, 19-inch Warmenau forged wheels, sports suspension, and a titanium muffler. Inside, there are leather seats with heating and ventilation, multimedia with a 12.9-inch screen, Harman Kardon acoustics, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. There is also a head-up display and driver assistance systems, including Travel Assist and Side Assist.
The high price in Russia is due to logistical difficulties and the exclusivity of the model. The first cars are already on their way, and demand for them is expected to be high among connoisseurs of sports hatchbacks.
