An economic analysis of the electrification project of the Chinese Geely Coolray crossover with predominantly Belarusian components showed its impracticality. The project was launched in August 2024, and in early 2025, prototypes were tested. By the summer of 2025, a possible start of mass production was announced, provided that the cost of the car reached 25-30 thousand dollars.
Gennady Svidersky, Director of CJSC "BelGee," stated at a press conference on August 18:
It became clear that the cost of components is higher than what is available on the world market today. This applies to electric motors, batteries, and inverters. Therefore, the decision to launch mass production is currently economically impractical.
The Chinese electric hit Geely Xingyuan will be sold under the Belgee brand. The launch of Belgee eX50 is postponed until the price of components can be brought to a competitive level.
