The Nissan plant has announced the end of production of the current generation GT-R sports car. Japan remained the last country where this car could be purchased. However, the company promised to continue working on the series.
The GT-R badge cannot be attached to just any car. It is intended for a special car, and the R35 set a high bar. The GT-R will definitely return.
The R35 generation lasted 17 years on the assembly line, with about 48,000 cars produced. Under the hood was a 3.8-liter V6 engine with a power output ranging from 480 to 600 hp, depending on the version. Each engine was assembled by hand by masters at the Yokohama plant.
The 35th series worthily adopted the spirit of the model, which consists of a fusion of GT-class comfort, outstanding track performance, and relatively low cost. In 2008, the R35 showed a result on the Nurburgring higher than the Porsche 911 Turbo and became a record holder among production cars. The car also entered the Guinness Book of Records for drifting at a speed of over 300 km/h.
