The Moscow Department of Transport has not confirmed information about plans to introduce a fee for every kilometer traveled in the capital when driving a personal car. This was reported to RT by the department.
The Department of Transport recalled that two toll highways have been operating in Moscow for several years: the Moscow High-Speed Diameter and Bagration Avenue.
The Moscow City Transport Department has not received any appeals regarding the issue raised by some experts.
Mikhail Blinkin, a member of the Public Council under the Ministry of Transport, suggested that all roads in Moscow could become toll roads. He noted that funds are needed for maintenance and repair, and many modern cars do not run on gasoline with excise taxes included in the cost, but on other types of fuel.
