A number of importers who supply foreign cars to Russia have suspended accepting orders for cars with engines with a capacity of more than 160 hp. Suppliers have taken measures to avoid overpayment in the event of a decision to revise the mechanism for calculating the recycling fee.
Auto market expert Pavel Karin said that his company has stopped accepting orders for cars from China, and applications for cars from South Korea will only be considered until October 1.
Otherwise, there is a risk that the new recycling fee calculation scheme will come into force while the ordered car is still in the delivery process, and as a result, the payment for it will be significantly higher than expected.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade has developed a draft resolution proposing to introduce a new criterion when calculating the recycling fee from November 1 — engine power.
The department recalled that the existing preferential terms for importers-individuals who drive cars for personal use will remain in effect. However, they will only apply to models with a capacity of no more than 160 hp.
