Production of cars at the former Toyota plant in St. Petersburg is scheduled to restart in 2026. The production of cars will be established by the domestic Aurus in conjunction with a friendly partner.
According to a source, cars under the Senat brand will be produced at the former Toyota plant, and the lineup will include one SUV and two sedans.
It is noteworthy that the "Senat" is already the name of the luxury Aurus sedan, which is produced both for the Special Purpose Garage (GON) and for officials and private clients.
The former Toyota plant has been idle since March 2022. Prior to that, the assembly site operated for 15 years, and it was the first car assembly plant in St. Petersburg. The plant assembled Camry and RAV4 models, and its capacity allowed it to produce up to 100 thousand cars per year.
