Toyota is preparing to unveil the updated Hilux pickup at the Thailand Motor Expo, which will be held from November 28 to December 10. The model will be available in standard and sporty GR Sport versions, focused on dynamics. In the future, the launch of a fully electric modification is expected, which will expand the lineup for different markets. The car, known as Hilux Travo according to the trademark registration in Thailand, will retain the IMV platform, but will receive significant changes in design and equipment.
Renders and patent sketches reveal the exterior: the headlights will become narrower, and the bumper will be more massive, with an emphasis on aggressiveness. The GR Sport version will stand out with even more expressive front optics and body kit. The interior will retain the traditional gear lever, complemented by a digital instrument panel and a large multimedia screen, which will increase convenience for the driver. The chassis will remain the same, providing proven reliability.
The power units will remain familiar: the basic version will inherit a 2.8-liter four-cylinder diesel with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and 204 hp. The sporty GR Sport will be equipped with a 2.4-liter i-Force Max hybrid engine with 330 hp and 630 Nm of torque, similar to the Tacoma. This will allow the pickup to compete with models like the Ford Ranger.
