Abolishing the consideration of vehicle depreciation when calculating CTP insurance payments will lead to a 40% increase in the cost of compulsory motor third party liability insurance policies, according to Philipp Gabunia, Deputy Chairman of the Bank of Russia.
According to him, depreciation is a significant part of the tariff, but in the current conditions, abolishing its consideration is unlikely to be necessary.
If we abandon it, it will have about a 40% impact on the tariff, which means a one-time increase in the cost of policies.
Gabunia noted that depreciation is not taken into account during repairs, although, according to the assessment of the Russian Union of Auto Insurers, it accounts for no more than 10-12% of CTP insurance payments. At the same time, the final amount of direct compensation depends on the year of manufacture of the car.
Earlier, motoram.ru reported that CTP insurance will be checked by road cameras: the launch dates of the system have been announced.
