Ferrari has revealed details about its first electric vehicle, the Elettrica, and also stated that it plans to improve batteries for hybrid and gasoline models.
At a closed event at its headquarters in Maranello, the Elettrica chassis was shown with a battery and electric motor, without wheels and a body.
The car, which is expected to debut on the world stage next year, will have a top speed of 310 km/h and a range of at least 530 km.
The four-door, four-seat car will feature a custom-designed sound system that will amplify the real vibrations from the powertrain, creating a distinct Ferrari electric sound, rather than simply mimicking engine noise.
Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna noted that the electric car will be an addition to the existing model range.
Today... is a historic day for us. Everyone has goosebumps. The electric car is an addition, not a transition.
