Russia is preparing an official list of drugs that can lead to the revocation of driver's licenses, according to Sergey Leonov, head of the State Duma Committee on Health Protection.
According to him, the list will include drugs that can impair concentration and reaction, including sleeping pills and sedatives.
The State Duma has already adopted the document in the first reading. The new rule introduces administrative liability for driving under the influence of drugs that affect attention and reaction speed. Violators face a license suspension of up to two years and a fine of up to 45 thousand rubles.
It is not always convenient for all drivers to search for the drug that was taken in such a list. Therefore, we propose to mark such drugs with the words "contraindicated for driving" on the packaging so that a person immediately understands that the drug is already on the list.
Leonov clarified that the sanction will be applied only in case of clinical signs of intoxication caused specifically by the action of such drugs, but not alcohol or drugs.
