The "St. Petersburg Automobile Plant" has reduced its forecast for the production of new Lada Iskra cars. In 2026, the plant will assemble only 4.5 thousand cars - half the previously announced volume, according to the head of the city committee for industrial policy, Alexander Sitov.
According to him, the company's capacity allows for significantly more production, but a project with high localization takes time.
Lada Iskra is a highly localized product, and the launch of such a project is important because it will no longer be affected by political factors. Further, everything depends on demand, positioning, and service.
The official added that the total production of cars at St. Petersburg plants in 2025 will amount to 51 thousand units - 9 thousand more than this year.
Earlier, when launching the assembly, there was talk of plans to produce 3.5-4 thousand cars by the end of 2025 and increase production to 10 thousand in 2026.
