Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant (UAZ) plans to significantly increase car production in Cuba in 2026. Last year, several dozen cars of the Russian brand were assembled on the Island of Freedom, the company's press service said.
The company has now completed the main organizational procedures and built cooperation with local partners.
The company emphasized that the preparatory stage is almost complete, and current capacities allow for expanding assembly. In 2026, UAZ expects to significantly increase car production, focusing on the needs of the Cuban market and the prospects for deliveries to neighboring countries in the region.
Full-scale assembly of UAZ SUVs in Cuba became the result of agreements reached during the visit of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko to the republic. The parties then discussed the development of industrial cooperation and localization of production of Russian equipment.
