Porsche and BMW are massively blocked in Russia

Luxury cars simply stop starting

A new wave of remote blocking of Porsche and BMW cars has been recorded throughout Russia. Owners have stated that the cars suddenly stop starting and require evacuation, the Telegram channel Mash reported.

The problem is associated with the operation of drone jammers, which affect standard satellite security modules.

One of the Porsche Macan owners said that his crossover stopped right on the street. Reflashing cost 28 thousand rubles without guarantees, a tow truck - another 32 thousand rubles. Similar cases were recorded in Tver, where a BMW with the ConnectedDrive system "froze".

Almost all models from 2013–2019 are affected by the failures. For Porsche, these are 911, Panamera, Cayenne, Macan, Boxster, Cayman 718 and even 918 Spyder. For BMW — 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 Series, X1–X6 crossovers, as well as Z4, i3, i8 and M-series. The common factor is the presence of a factory satellite alarm.

Service centers explained that jammers disrupt the operation of VTS and TCU units. Electronics perceives this as an attempted theft and automatically blocks the engine from starting. Porsche Russland has already confirmed this reason, while representatives of BMW have not yet given official comments.

The first wave of such blockages occurred in early December and affected isolated cars.
