In 2025, 37.2 thousand Volkswagen passenger cars were imported into Russia, which is 69% more than the year before. This was announced by the head of the analytical agency "Autostat" Sergey Tselikov in his Telegram channel.
Imports of new Volkswagen cars increased by 120% and reached 8.6 thousand cars. Imports of used cars increased by 58% to 28.6 thousand units. The majority of new Volkswagens supplied to Russia were produced in China: their share was 93.8%. At the same time, 58.6% of new cars underwent customs clearance in transit through Kyrgyzstan.
The structure of imports of new cars has shifted towards more powerful versions. Only 13.3% of cars had a power of up to 160 hp, while models with an indicator above this threshold accounted for 86.7% of deliveries. About two-thirds of new Volkswagen imports - 65.6% - were provided by two models: Tiguan (3.4 thousand cars) and Teramont (2.6 thousand).
The top five most imported new models also included Tavendor, Tharu and Talagon, produced in China at the FAW-Volkswagen and SAIC-Volkswagen joint ventures.
Used Volkswagen cars were also actively imported from China, but their share was lower - 41.6%. Cars of German assembly accounted for 38.8% of imports. Almost 70% of used cars had a power of up to 160 hp. The top 5 models included Golf, Tiguan, Passat, Jetta and Tayron.
