The British brand created the "Phantom Arabesque" based on the Rolls-Royce Phantom — the first production car where the design is laser-engraved directly into the paint layer on the hood. The laser removes the top layer of coating with astonishing precision, thinner than a human hair, providing access to the lower layer. In sunlight, the pattern "comes to life", creating a depth effect. The technology took about five years to develop, and the final touches are still done manually. According to the company, active customization has already raised the average check to almost $500,000.

The German concern has applied a different approach. The PixelPaint system works on the principle of an inkjet printer: a robot with 3D cameras applies paint with millimeter precision. The technology allows reproducing complex ornaments, including repeating logos on the Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series.

Both developments demonstrate that in the ultra-luxury segment, a car is increasingly becoming a personal art object.
