LiXiang: 800 cars with re-stickered VINs have arrived in Russia

Avtomobili are legally clean and subject to registration despite expert examinations

About 800 LiXiang vehicles with re-stickered VIN plates have arrived in Russia. According to a source at the LiXiang distributor company, the stickers were replaced back in China — the Chinese labels were changed to English-language ones. The cars are legally clean and are subject to registration.

The distributor sent the traffic police a letter with a list of such vehicles. However, the agency interpreted the letter as an admission of violations. In Moscow, cars from the list are not inspected and are immediately sent for expert examination. In other regions, registration is sometimes carried out without additional checks.

The source emphasizes that the vehicles comply with the requirements. The sticker with the VIN number is not a legal identifier of the vehicle. Consequently, registration cannot be denied solely because the plate was re-stickered, and such LiXiang vehicles must be registered.
