Import of used cars to Russia continues to grow. In January–February 2026, 49.7 thousand passenger cars were imported into the country, which is 31% more than in the same period last year.
After December 1, 2025, the supply structure changed. Almost 95% of imported cars have a power of up to 160 hp, which is due to the preferential recycling fee for such cars.
The largest source of supply remains Japan. 28.1 thousand used cars were imported from there in two months, 39% more than a year earlier. China ranks second, where import growth was even higher: supplies increased by 164% and reached 13 thousand cars.
Imports from South Korea, on the contrary, decreased significantly — by 46%, to 3.8 thousand cars. Belarus and Germany are also among the top five supplier countries, but their share is much smaller.
Toyota remains the leader in the brand structure — 10.7 thousand cars. The company almost caught up with Honda with a result of 10.1 thousand cars. The top 5 also included Volkswagen (5.3 thousand), Suzuki (2.5 thousand) and BMW (2.3 thousand).
At the same time, analysts attribute the decrease in BMW imports to the restriction of the preferential recycling fee for cars with a power of more than 160 hp.
