AvtoVAZ launched a new brand - what kind of cars are these

AvtoVAZ has started assembling cars of the new SKM brand. The first model is the SKM M7, which will be available as a all-metal van and a cargo-passenger minivan. Production is organized at the facilities of the subsidiary VIS-AVTO, together with commercial versions of LADA Granta and NIVA.

Cars are assembled by large-node assembly from painted bodies with glazing. Engines and chassis elements are supplied separately. Some of the components have already been localized in Russia, including technical fluids, batteries and ERA-GLONASS systems.

During production, the SKM M7 undergoes quality control on roller stands, an artificial unevenness section and in a rain chamber. The inspection system complies with the standards of the main AvtoVAZ assembly line.

The model is adapted for the Russian market. More than 50 changes have been made to the design, including the refinement of seats, the installation of Isofix mounts and additional heating of the cabin. The body has been galvanized, and the engine compartment has been redesigned for ease of maintenance.

The SKM M7 is equipped with a 2.0-liter gasoline engine with a capacity of 137 hp and a manual gearbox. The drive is rear, with a leaf spring suspension for commercial loads. The basic equipment includes air conditioning, airbags and driver assistance systems.
