Kia will recall 568 2027 model year Kia Telluride hybrid crossovers. The reason is a problem with the second-row seat electric drive system.
We are talking about the SX Prestige and X-Line SX Prestige versions with the Executive Package. These modifications are equipped with a "one-touch" seat folding function. According to the manufacturer, the system may not recognize obstacles and continue moving even if there is a person in the area.
The problem is similar to the situation with the Hyundai Palisade, where incidents have been previously recorded, including one fatality and several injuries. In the case of Kia, no injuries have been reported.
Sales of the affected versions have been temporarily suspended. At the same time, the solution to the problem is still under development, and the timing of the solution has not been announced.
Until the defect is corrected, the company recommends not using the automatic seat folding function when passengers are in the back, especially children. Owners are also advised to avoid accidentally pressing the control buttons.
Notifications about the service campaign are planned to be sent to owners no later than May 19.
