Ford Considers Geely a Threat to the US Market, But is Ready for Cooperation in Europe

Companies are negotiating entry into the "Old World" after abandoning joint projects in America

Ford and Geely are negotiating cooperation in Europe after discussions on joint projects in the US fell through. Previously, the companies considered using Geely's technologies in Ford models for the American market. In particular, the integration of the Chinese manufacturer's platform was discussed. However, negotiations ceased amid political pressure.

In Europe, the dialogue continues. Geely could use Ford's plant in Valencia for local production, which would reduce the impact of import tariffs. For Ford, this is a chance to utilize idle capacity.

Ford's management previously stated the risks posed by Chinese manufacturers. The head of the company emphasized the need to protect the US domestic market.

Ford confirmed that supporting the entry of Chinese brands into the American market contradicts its current strategy. At the same time, the very fact of negotiations shows interest in the technologies of Chinese companies.
