Thais turned a Toyota pickup into a full-fledged truck

The Hilux with a dump body from RRS received a payload capacity of up to 5 tons, hydraulics, and a reinforced chassis without frame modification

In Thailand, Rung Rueng Service company transformed a new ninth-generation Toyota Hilux into a dump truck with a payload capacity of up to 5 tons. The model received a hinged body and a reinforced chassis without interfering with the frame. The cargo platform can be either a modified standard one or a completely new one – made of high-strength steel. The basic dimensions of the body are 2500 mm in length, 1760 mm in width, and 600 mm in height. If necessary, the height can be increased to 800 mm.

To increase the payload capacity, a floating rear axle, reinforced leaf springs, and shock absorbers with an enlarged rod are installed. This allows transporting up to 5000 kg of cargo without losing stability. The body lift is implemented through a hydraulic system. Two options are available: an electric mechanism for loads up to 5 tons and an engine-driven system for more intensive use.

Additionally, a crane with a lifting capacity of up to 1000 kg, installed behind the cab, is offered. It allows self-loading and unloading of materials, turning the pickup into an autonomous work platform.

RRS emphasizes that the design is made as a modular kit and does not require welding or cutting the frame. The rearview camera and parking sensors are relocated, retaining their standard functionality. In addition to Hilux, similar solutions are applied to Ford Ranger and Mitsubishi Triton.
