BYD summarized the results for April 2026: the company sold 314,100 passenger cars — 15.7% less than a year ago. This is the eighth consecutive month with negative year-on-year dynamics.
At the same time, there is growth in monthly comparison: compared to March (295,639 cars), sales increased by 6.2%. This rebound is explained by the recovery in demand after the decline during the Chinese New Year period. However, the key problem is precisely the long-term trend: the decline has continued since September 2025.
The main driver now is exports. In April, deliveries outside China reached a record 134,542 vehicles (+70.9% year-on-year). The share of foreign markets grew to 42.8% of the total volume — in fact, every second BYD car is now sold outside China.
Since the beginning of the year, the picture remains mixed. From January to April, the company sold 1.003 million cars (-26.4%), but exports for the same period grew by 59.8% — to 455,707 units. Against this background, BYD set a goal for 2026: 1.5 million cars outside the domestic market.
Within the brands, the situation varies. The main direction (Dynasty and Ocean series) fell by 21.2% — to 273,448 cars. Premium Denza lost 26.9%, while the off-road sub-brand Fang Cheng Bao grew by 190%. The upper segment Yangwang also shows growth, but in absolute terms remains niche.
