Drivers allowed to operate buggies and ATVs without tractor licenses

But will have to undergo instruction

Russians with regular driver's licenses will find it easier to use off-road vehicles. The President of the Russian Federation signed a law that expands the list of vehicles available without obtaining a tractor driver's license.

After the law comes into force, holders of regular driver's licenses will be able to operate buggies, ATVs, and swamp buggies of category AII, provided they comply with the established requirements. Previously, this required separate training and obtaining special tractor licenses.

One of the main conditions is that the equipment must be provided by an organization under a lease agreement, and the driver must undergo safety operation instruction.

This is a continuation of the reform started in 2023, when owners of regular licenses were allowed to use ATVs and snowmobiles. Now the list of available equipment has become even wider.

The innovation should simplify the rental of off-road vehicles for tourist trips, hunting, fishing, and active recreation. Now, for most such routes, it will not be necessary to obtain an additional license, if all legal requirements are met.
