AvtoVAZ has taken another important step towards launching the mass production of the new Lada Azimut crossover. The company has started manufacturing front bumpers, which required using the largest mold in the entire history of plastic parts production at the plant.

The weight of the injection molding equipment reaches 40 tons, and the full cycle of manufacturing one bumper takes only 77 seconds. During the technology debugging period, specialists have already produced about 500 parts to achieve the required surface quality.

Production is fully automated. Molten plastic is heated to a temperature of over 200 degrees, after which it undergoes molding, cooling, and is automatically extracted from the mold.

Simultaneously, AvtoVAZ modernized the painting line. New programs for painting robots were developed for Azimut, and an additional compressed air blowing system for parts was installed.

A distinctive feature of the new crossover will also be modular assembly. The bumper arrives at the conveyor as an almost complete unit weighing up to 18 kg – along with lighting equipment, parking sensors, air ducts, and decorative elements. This approach accelerates production and improves the quality of car assembly.
