Audi has officially unveiled the new Q9 — the largest and most luxurious crossover in its history. The new model will sit above the Q7 and become a direct competitor to the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS.

In terms of size, the Audi Q9 surpasses most models in its segment. The car is 5,310 mm long, 2,210 mm wide, and has a wheelbase of 3,140 mm. Compared to the Audi Q7, the new model is 250 mm longer, 200 mm wider, and has a 145 mm longer wheelbase.

Visually, the Q9 stands out with a massive grille featuring vertical slats and new curved digital OLED lights that improve the car's visibility at an angle and allow for various lighting scenarios. For the first time, the license plate has been moved to the rear bumper, making the tailgate visually cleaner.

The main focus is on passenger comfort. A seven-seat interior is standard, and a six-seat configuration with two separate second-row seats is available for an extra charge. Even the third row is designed for adult passengers. Electric doors can open up to a 90-degree angle, and built-in sensors prevent collisions with obstacles. The doors can also be controlled remotely via the myAudi app.

Another feature is the largest panoramic roof in the brand's history, spanning over 1.5 m². It can change transparency across nine individual sections, and integrated lighting with 84 LEDs supports 30 color options. When parking, the glass automatically becomes opaque, protecting the interior from prying eyes.

The equipment also includes a 1,360 W Bang & Olufsen audio system with 22 speakers and vibration elements in the seats, as well as an intelligent safety system. If the driver loses consciousness or stops responding, the car can autonomously slow down, move to the roadside if conditions permit, stop, and automatically call emergency services.

In the European market, the Q9 will debut with a 3.0-liter inline turbodiesel engine producing 295 hp, complemented by a mild hybrid system and an electric turbocharger. For the USA, a 2.9-liter V6 gasoline engine with 429 hp is expected, as well as a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 developing 591 hp. All versions will feature an eight-speed automatic transmission, adaptive air suspension, and an all-wheel steering chassis with rear wheels turning up to 5 degrees.
