In April 2026, Hyundai and India's TVS Motor signed an agreement to jointly create and produce an electric three-wheeler. Production will be organized in India, from where the model can also be exported to other markets. The Hyundai E3W still looks like an unusual concept, but the project has already moved from an exhibition prototype to full-fledged development.

The main task of the E3W is the last mile. Hyundai is considering the vehicle for courier services, passenger transport, and delivery of small goods in cities with dense traffic. Specific versions can be used as emergency response vehicles.

The design is tailored to the peculiarities of Indian roads. The body has adjustable ground clearance: it can be raised to pass through flooded areas during the monsoon season. It features a flat floor, an extended wheelbase, and a more ergonomic driver's workspace.

Hyundai also tried to solve the problem of practicality. The cabin provides a smartphone holder and panels with holes to which various storage elements can be attached. The passenger configuration includes a folding seat for a person in a wheelchair.

However, the technical specifications of the production E3W have not yet been disclosed. Hyundai and TVS still need to complete testing, localize production, and undergo certification. Therefore, there is no data yet on battery capacity, motor power, or range.

The format itself is unusual for Hyundai, but quite logical for India. Three-wheeled autorickshaws have long been part of the local transport system, and the electric version allows them to retain their compactness and maneuverability, adding a safer design and modern technologies.
