From September 1 to 4, 72.75 thousand tons of gasoline were sold on the St. Petersburg Exchange – 69.2% more than in the same period in August. The increase coincided with the permission to temporarily sell Euro-2, Euro-3, and Euro-4 gasoline at Russian gas stations.

However, on September 7, trading volume decreased by 10.9% to 12.24 thousand tons. Sales of AI-95 Euro-5 decreased by 23.5%, and AI-92 by 1.6%. According to "Kommersant", market participants attribute this to unscheduled repairs at individual refineries, due to which oil companies suspended some exchange sales.

At the same time, demand remains significantly higher than available supply. Unsatisfied solvent demand for AI-92 was estimated at 37.74 thousand tons, and for AI-95 at another 35.34 thousand tons. Simultaneously, supplies of Belarusian gasoline are also decreasing: on September 7, 1.5 thousand tons of AI-92 were sold on the exchange.

Therefore, the surge in the first four days of September cannot yet be considered the beginning of a sustained market recovery. Since the beginning of the year, 5.442 million tons of gasoline have been sold on the exchange – 23.7% less than in the same period of 2025.
