The Belarusian-Chinese enterprise Belgee plans to transition Geely Cityray production from semi-knocked-down assembly to a full production cycle. According to the plant's general director, Gennady Svidersky, this should happen by the end of 2026 or early 2027.

Currently, Cityray arrives at the enterprise as large pre-assembled units, which are then assembled on the conveyor. In parallel, Belgee is already engaged in manufacturing the equipment necessary for deeper production localization.

The transition to a full cycle means that a significant part of the operations will be performed directly at the plant: in particular, this refers to welding and painting of car bodies and a further increase in the share of Belarusian-made parts. The enterprise is also building its own stamping shop with an area of more than 5 thousand square meters. Its launch is scheduled for 2027.

The Cityray is built on the new Geely 3.0 platform for the plant. The hybrid Belgee X80 was also created on it, and the plant continues to expand its model range and localization. The enterprise's production capacity reaches 120 thousand cars per year.

For Geely, this means more than just a change in the assembly method. Deeper localization reduces dependence on supplies of finished units from China and allows for an increase in the share of operations performed directly in Belarus.
