Bentley is revising its electrification strategy. Previously, the company planned to abandon conventional powertrains by 2026 and switch exclusively to electric vehicles by 2030. Now, Bentley is not naming a specific date for a full transition.

Bentley CEO Frank-Steffen Walliser stated that the company must react more quickly to changing demand. One practical step is the production of plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles on the same assembly line. This will allow for a more rapid change in the ratio of different versions produced without retooling production.

At the same time, Bentley is shortening development times. Currently, creating an entirely new model takes about 48 months, and the company expects to reduce this to 36 months. This approach should allow for faster updates to technology and adaptation to the market.

The first production electric car of the Torcal brand has already been presented, but it will not have a hybrid version. The crossover is built on the PPE electric platform, so installing an internal combustion engine, according to the head of Bentley, would create an overlap with the larger Bentayga.

However, hybrids remain an important part of the model range. For example, the current Ultra Performance Hybrid combines a 4.0-liter V8 with an electric motor and develops up to 782 hp.
