Rivian concluded Q3 2026 with a record result for the company. From July to September, the American manufacturer delivered 19,248 vehicles to customers — approximately 46% more than a year earlier. Analysts had expected around 18,000 vehicles.

Production also grew significantly: Rivian's plant in Normal, Illinois, produced 19,751 vehicles. For comparison, in Q2, the company produced 12,613 vehicles and delivered 12,194. Thus, deliveries for the quarter increased by almost 58% sequentially.
The main factor was the new R2. The first vehicles of this model began to be delivered to customers in June, making Q3 its first full quarter of deliveries. Rivian has not yet disclosed sales by individual models, but the launch of the more affordable R2 is seen as a key factor in accelerating volumes.
However, the company did not raise its forecast for the entire year 2026. Rivian still expects to deliver 65,000–70,000 vehicles. After nine months of the year, 41,807 vehicles have been sold, so to reach the lower end of the forecast, at least 23,193 vehicles will need to be delivered in Q4 — approximately 20.5% more than in Q3.
Thus, the R2 has already begun to fulfill its main task — to move Rivian from a relatively small premium segment into a more mass market. But the launch can only be considered definitively successful once the company demonstrates the ability to maintain such a pace of production.
