BMW completed the third quarter of 2026 with a 3.4% sales growth in the USA. From July to September, the company sold 100,210 vehicles, and over nine months – 287,154 cars, which is 4.3% more than the result of a year ago.

Behind the overall increase lies a much sharper dynamic of individual models. Sales of the BMW 3 Series grew by 46.4% – to 11,256 vehicles. From January to September, the sedan sold 29,987 units, gaining 37.3%. This is particularly noteworthy because BMW has already introduced the new, eighth generation of the 3 Series.

Another driver is the X5. In the third quarter, Americans bought 22,213 of these crossovers, 21.5% more than a year earlier. Since the beginning of the year, the X5 has reached 63,767 vehicles and became BMW's best-selling model in the USA, slightly ahead of the X3.

At the opposite pole was the electric iX: sales fell from 3,136 to just 121 cars, a decrease of 96.1%. However, BMW attributes the collapse primarily to the transition to a new model. The company also reported that sales of all electrified vehicles decreased by 24.9%, while plug-in hybrids grew by 23.2%.

This creates an unusual picture: American buyers are simultaneously increasing demand for the classic 3 Series and X5, while BMW is transitioning its model range to the next technical architecture, Neue Klasse. Therefore, the Q3 statistics reflect not only consumer demand but also the brand's transition between car generations.
