The AvtoVAZ plant resumed production on August 18 after a 3-week planned corporate holiday, which was traditionally used to maintain and modernize assembly lines, as well as improve working conditions for employees. Earlier, AvtoVAZ reported that it was considering switching to a four-day work schedule due to overstocking of warehouses and the general situation on the domestic car market.
The plant has not independently published car sales reports for several months, however, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the passenger car market in the Russian Federation has decreased by 23.4% since the beginning of 2025 and amounted to 704.7 units sold. At the recent SPIEF forum, AvtoVAZ head Maxim Sokolov announced the company's expectations for a 20–25% decrease in sales, in connection with which the production plan for the production of cars, which initially amounted to 500,000 cars per year, will be adjusted.
