Toyota is working on an innovative system that will allow launching a drone to monitor the route during off-road trips. The idea has already been submitted to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), although mass production is not yet planned - the concept may appear later.
The essence of the technology is simple: when the driver is moving along a difficult track, for example on a Land Cruiser and climbs a steep hill, the drone is launched and provides an overview of what is in front of the car and out of sight of the built-in Multi-Terrain Monitor cameras. According to Toyota, this will allow planning safer routes and improve control over the car.
The company emphasizes that the project remains experimental. Representatives of the automaker noted that "they are constantly working on new technologies" and "currently have no plans to release products for announcement".
