Atom Electric Car Withstood Eight Years of Corrosion in 900 Hours

New Domestic Car Sent to Salt Spray

The domestic Atom electric car has passed corrosion resistance tests at the FSUE "NAMI" center in Dmitrov. The body withstood 900 hours in a salt spray chamber — the equivalent of eight years of operation in urban conditions.

The brand's press service showed footage of the tests, where the car's body was subjected to an aggressive environment to check for rust protection. The results confirmed the high reliability and durability of the body.

Special notches were made on the surface of the body to artificially create corrosion centers. After almost 900 hours of exposure to salt spray, experts did not identify critical traces of metal destruction. Engineers plan to eliminate all comments before the start of mass production.

The developers have provided comprehensive anti-corrosion protection. Double-sided galvanizing and aluminum-silicon coating of hot-stamped parts are used. The lower part of the body is covered with anti-gravel mastic and plastic shields, which completely protect the arches and sills.

The company emphasized that the tests confirmed the structure's resistance to temperature changes and the effects of anti-icing agents typical of Russian cities.
