AvtoVAZ has officially published recommendations for operating LADA cars in winter, explaining how much time it really takes to warm up the engine. The company's engineers stated that for modern engines, about 30 seconds of idling is sufficient before starting to drive.
This time is enough for the engine oil to distribute evenly throughout the system, and for the power unit to reach a stable mode.
This approach is consistent with modern environmental standards and engine-building requirements - short warm-up reduces cylinder wear, saves fuel and reduces harmful emissions.
At the same time, in severe frosts, engineers advise giving the engine a little more time - not only for the sake of mechanics, but also for the comfort of the driver.
Additional minutes of warm-up help to thaw and clean the windows faster, get rid of fogging and ensure stable heating of the cabin. The manufacturer also reminded of the importance of regularly checking the oil and antifreeze levels, especially before long trips.
Earlier motoram.ru reported that a Lada dealership closed in St. Petersburg - for the first time in six years.
