Modern cars have a hidden function that almost no one uses, but it really helps drivers in everyday situations. This was revealed by auto expert Dmitry Novikov.
According to him, in almost every car, you can close the windows without starting the engine or using the key fob.
Usually, drivers close the windows in two familiar ways: they start the engine and raise them with buttons, or they hold the close button on the key fob. However, some models have an alternative algorithm that allows you to control the power windows even when the ignition is off. As a rule, there is one condition — the doors must be open.
The principle is simple. You need to press and hold the power window buttons (front or rear) in the "up" position for a few seconds — until the windows start to rise. Then the buttons should be held further until the windows are completely closed.
Novikov emphasizes that this method is useful when you need to quickly close the windows in rain or wind, and starting the engine is inconvenient or undesirable.
The auto expert also noted that the factory method of closing windows remains the safest, but knowing the alternative algorithm expands the driver's capabilities.
This life hack is especially helpful in emergency situations when you need to maintain the comfort and protection of the cabin without wasting extra battery power.
