Volkswagen Temporarily Halts ID. Buzz Production: Electric Bus Disappears from the Market

The company will rethink the model and return it to sales

Volkswagen has paused production of ID. Buzz minivans. The company emphasizes that this is a temporary break, not a complete withdrawal of the model from the market. Currently, dealers are "optimizing inventory," selling off 2025 models until mid-year, and the automaker is preparing an updated version, the details of which have not yet been disclosed.

The electric minivan ID. Buzz was launched in Europe in 2022, and sales in the US only began in 2025.

Despite this, American buyers' interest turned out to be modest: less than 5 thousand cars were sold in the third quarter - a figure significantly below the average for the electric vehicle market, given the high price of $61.5 thousand.

Experts explain the weak sales by a combination of high cost and market saturation. At the same time, Volkswagen assures that the model will return to the market, possibly in tandem with the electric ID. Polo, and the new version will receive improved characteristics and an updated design.
