Suzuki introduced the e-Sky — its first production electric kei-car. The model will appear in Japan in autumn 2026, and in spring 2027, it will head to the UK and continental European countries. The target price is less than 20 thousand pounds (about 2.2 million rubles).

The main feature of the e-Sky is its weight of only 1030 kg with a length of 3395 mm. Thanks to this, Suzuki did not have to install a huge battery: a compact 26 kWh LFP battery is used. The electric motor develops 63 hp, and the declared range reaches 310 km according to the Japanese cycle.

It is the weight that is more important here than the battery itself. The energy consumption is stated at approximately 97 Wh/km — an indicator that allows for a decent range even with a small battery. For a city car, this is more rational than carrying several hundred kilograms of extra batteries.

In Europe, the e-Sky will be among small affordable models like the Renault Twingo E-Tech and Dacia Spring. However, Suzuki offers a completely different approach: not to shrink a typical European car, but to transfer the Japanese kei-car philosophy beyond Japan.

It is not yet known what the e-Sky's range will be according to the European WLTP cycle and how much the car will cost in euros. But the concept itself is indicative: a cheap electric car does not necessarily have to have a huge battery. Sometimes it is more effective to simply make the car lighter.
