The Romanian brand Dacia has unveiled a new electric concept, the Dacia Hipster, a compact urban mini-car designed for everyday trips and focused on affordability. The model clearly demonstrates the brand's desire to make electric vehicles mass-produced and inexpensive.
Dacia Hipster is a three-meter-long, 1.5-meter-wide electric car. Despite its modest size, the interior, according to the developers, can easily accommodate four adult passengers. The trunk volume varies from 70 to 500 liters, depending on the configuration.
The car is designed for both urban and suburban routes. The manufacturer claims that the Dacia Hipster needs to be charged no more than twice a week, and the range will be enough for daily trips. As a reference, data for France is given, where 94% of drivers travel less than 39 kilometers per day. The exact parameters of the battery and power have not yet been disclosed.
By creating the Dacia Hipster, the company sought to offer an option for buyers who have not found suitable electric vehicles at a reasonable price. Dacia recalled that from 2010 to 2024, the average cost of new cars in Europe increased by 77%, significantly outpacing the growth of income.
We strived to create a truly people's car, giving it an expressive and memorable design. A car that can be drawn with three strokes of a pencil.
The body of the Dacia Hipster is made in straight lines with a high belt line and a two-section door. The driver's seat resembles the layout of the Dacia Sandero. 20% of the structure is made of recycled plastic - old bumpers and dashboards. The car is presented in a single body color.
The interior is decorated in a minimalist style: simple lines, a digital dashboard, cup holders and armrests. The central display has been replaced with a docking station for a smartphone. The front seats are combined into a common bench, as in some old European models, which reduced weight and cost.
The company has not yet disclosed plans for the serial production of the Dacia Hipster. However, the concept clearly demonstrates the brand's course towards the development of a segment of compact and inexpensive electric vehicles designed for the mass buyer.
